This past Wednesday, June 15, the artists from BREATHE:Cambridge as well as other Cambridge youth artists working in digital media gathered to present their projects at Microsoft's N.E.R.D (New England Research & Development) Center. Each of our participants presented on one aspect of our project as the image of the flyer for our show @ CAC Gallery was projected behind us. Our group closed out our portion of the presentation by inviting the audience to join us in our ritual, the sound creation cypher. As Dora opened the floor up to the audience the room transformed into a living, breathing piece of sound art. It was pretty surreal how much we could do as a group with no technology at all, ironically in the HQ of one of the world's largest technology companies. The event proceeded with sharing at various tables where we presented a short film about BREATHE:Cambridge, our soundcloud pages with our sound art, and our blog. The audience was asked to add their voice to the next phase of the project as well as their opinions on where we can go from here. Mercedes Wallace closed out our presentation with the question, "What will you do to carry this project into the future?"
Thanks to Katherine Docimo from Citizen Schools for all of her hard work putting together this event. Also thanks to Microsoft and Cambridge Youth Programs.
