Breathe Artist Wilgens Metelus' First Film "I Am Who I Am"

I had the pleasure of seeing this beautiful film by Wilgens Metelus one of the artists from Breathe who has continued exploring multimedia art by working with Cambridge Community Television this summer.  As part of the Mayor's Summer Youth Employment Program (MSYEP) he was able to learn the basic of filmmaking: writing, shooting and editing at CCTV.  This black-and-white film displays a keen eye for detail and a style that evokes visual elements from early 20th century film though it was shot entirely in digital.  Wilgens plans to follow this film with a documentary and is interested in exploring the themes of bullying, racial and age-based profiling and the struggles and triumphs he and his peers experience living in Cambridge.
